The complex dates back to the 15th century. A stone path and steps lead from the lower pagoda at the foot of the cliff, through a natural cave to the middle pagoda, and on to the upper pagoda higher up the rock.<\/p>\n<p>From the upper level you look out over rice fields and a pond in front of the mountain. It is a small site and usually much quieter than Tam Coc itself.<\/p>\n<h2>What to see at Bich Dong<\/h2>\n<p>Look for the bell and the old stone inscriptions in the middle pagoda, and the cave passage between levels, which is cool even on hot days. The steps are steep in places.
