On the hillside is the old Bai Dinh pagoda, a small cave temple with a long history. Below it, a huge new complex was built from 2003 and opened in 2010, and it is one of the largest Buddhist temple complexes in Vietnam.

The new pagoda climbs the hill in a series of halls joined by long covered galleries lined with hundreds of carved stone arhat statues. The main halls hold very large bronze Buddha statues, and a tall stupa stands at the top of the site.

What to see at Bai Dinh

Walk up through the arhat galleries rather than taking the shortcut: they are the most memorable part. Then visit the bell tower and main halls, and if you have time, follow the path to the old cave pagoda on the hill. Electric carts run from the car park to the entrance. It is a big site with a lot of walking, and busy at weekends and in the spring festival season.

Un immense complexe de temples à flanc de colline, avec de longues galeries de statues d’arhats, des bouddhas géants en bronze et une ancienne pagode troglodyte au-dessus.

[18
post-1059","eta_place","type-eta_place","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
