It covers a large area of limestone forest on the edge of the Ninh Binh plain, with huge trees, caves and a long road through the forest to the park centre.

Near the entrance, the Endangered Primate Rescue Center cares for langurs, gibbons and lorises rescued from the wildlife trade, and a turtle conservation centre does similar work for freshwater turtles. Both can be visited at set times.

What to do at Cuc Phuong

Popular walks lead to the 1,000-year-old tree and the giant Cho Dai tree, and to the Cave of Prehistoric Man, where archaeologists found evidence of early human life. In April and May clouds of butterflies fill the forest roads. Cuc Phuong is a long way from the other sights, so it needs its own day.

[18
post-1063","eta_place","type-eta_place","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
