About Hang Mua
Hang Mua is a limestone hill next to Tam Coc with a small cave at its foot and a long stone stairway up its spine. The steps – usually counted as around 486 to 500 – climb to two viewpoints: a stone dragon twisting along the ridge on one side, and a small shrine to Quan Am on the other summit.
From the top you look down on Tam Coc: the Ngo Dong River winding between rice fields and limestone peaks, with the boats as small dots on the water. It is the classic Ninh Binh photograph.
What to see at Hang Mua
At the bottom there is the cave itself, a lotus pond that flowers in June and July, and a few rebuilt gates and statues used as photo backdrops. The climb takes 20–30 minutes at an easy pace. The steps are uneven and steep near the top, so good shoes help; there is little shade.
Our full-day Ninh Binh jeep tour ends the day here, in the softer afternoon light.
